Job Overview:
Coordinate the budgeting, accounting, grant compliance and program specific software of assigned department for the purpose of providing support to administrators and others. Provides assistance in the grant writing and application process, conducts compliance monitoring, generates financial reports, reviews policies and procedures, and provides staff training as needed. Works independently, receiving minimal supervision and guidance.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
Terms of Employment:
Twelve-month, 260-day work year; 8 hours per day. Level 2 on the Exempt Professional salary schedule, plus benefits as provided by board policy.

- ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP
- Participates in development, and organization of the accounting and compliance of grants for assigned departments. This includes preparation of departmental and district response to district, state, and federal requirements related to state and/or federal programs.
- Provide technical support on department specific software including but not limited to training and instruction manuals, system interface(s), data integrity and period software upgrades.
- Monitors departmental budgets and accounting processes in support of program goals. Serves as departmental liaison between departments of responsibility and other program/district staff.
- Reviews budget, forecasts and calculates revenue, expenditures, staffing, and ensures compliance with Federal and State requirements and District policy and procedures. Generates financial reports utilizing personal computer applications and the District's general ledger system.
- Reviews program/grant expenditures for compliance with allowable costs, period of availability, grant application, and budgets. Prepares expenditure corrections or budget transfer requests. Notifies management of current or potential issues.
- Conduct monthly grant monitoring, including status reports, grant reimbursement claims, and retention of documentation for audit review. Maintains grant procedures and training materials as needed.
- Assists with grant evaluation requirements, including writing of reports and tracking activity data. Reviews data and writes summaries for reporting purposes, in cooperation with the accounting department.
- Assists in the grant writing process, reviews grant application prior to submission. Assists in the preparation and review of the gift and/or grant application/award documentation for the school board. Participates in meetings and committees related to program/grant projects.
- Monitors time and effort certification reports for completeness and accuracy, as well as compliance with federal requirements. Provides training as appropriate.
- Participates, as assigned, in meetings and committees related to program, grant, or special projects.
- Oversees and updates any applicable website information, in cooperation with the technology services department.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in business administration, accounting, or related field. Professional certification in accounting preferred.
- Three years grant accounting or equivalent compliance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of School District, or governmental accounting preferred.
- Intermediate level understanding of principles and practices of accounting, program budgeting and financial analysis.
- Intermediate knowledge of automated financial systems and related software applications associated with budget preparation, monitoring and execution.
- Intermediate experience in general computer skills, including Microsoft office programs, accounting spreadsheets, financial software, and data base systems.
- Experience preparing financial reports and documents for publication and distribution.
- Ability to provide quality customer service, collaborate, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines.
