The Right Fit
We are always recruiting physical therapy technicians who are a great fit for the growing Spooner team! Our physical therapy technicians have the primary responsibility of ensuring an exceptional end to end patient experience, which includes directing patient care through the continuum in a fast-paced outpatient environment. Our treatment philosophy is a promise to provide an engaging experience in mind, and spirit, and the foundation of our assessment is grounded in the principles of Applied Functional Science (AFS). The therapist who is excited to embrace the treatment philosophy and challenge themselves within the Spooner culture of excellence should apply for the position. This position reports to the facility clinic director.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attain continued knowledge of patient exercises, proper form for completion, and how to customize patient exercises.
- Instructs, motivates and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily-living activities.
- Safeguards, motivates, and assists patients practicing exercises and functional activities under direction of professional staff. Will be required to demonstrate correct activity form or function.
- Observes the patient during various physical activities designed in the treatment plan, compiling progress on patients’ response to treatment.
- Training and mentoring of new physical therapy technicians.
- Participates and assists in planning of technician meetings.
- Coordinates physical therapy technician schedules, including time off requests.
- Effectively communicates patient progress and reactions to treatment, to the physical therapist.
- Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.
- Administers treatment involving application of physical agents, moist or heat packs, and other modality treatments as needed.
- Proactive in attaining knowledge of the application of modalities and the purposes, indications, and contraindications of each.
- Fits patients for and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, as instructed by the therapists. Adjusts fit of supportive devices, as instructed by the therapists.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment following treatment.
- Transports patients to and from treatment area.
- Contributes to maintaining continual flow of patient treatment in an effort to minimize patient wait time.
- Assists Wellness members as needed.
- Assists and participates in the internal marketing of programs, services, the facility, and the organization as a whole.
- Participates in staff meetings to enhance the learning and team environment.
- Accountable for maintaining OSHA regulatory safety and infection control standards, reporting or correcting hazards as necessary.
- Maintains secure and safe treatment areas and a working environment free of hazardous conditions in accordance to SPTs Safety and Illness and Injury Prevention Program.
- Ordering and distribution of supplies as needed.
- Assisting patient service coordinators with maintenance of front desk duties as needed.
- Cleaning of break room, front desk and clinic areas as required
Qualifications
- Major in Kinesiology, Physical Therapy Technician Certification, prior experience or knowledge as a physical therapy technician, or interest in the field of physical therapy.
- CPR certification.
- Bilingual: English & Spanish
Salary : $12 - $13
