What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catering Server position at Sporting Kansas City?

Children’s Mercy Park is looking for dynamic service professionals to join our front of house service team. Our Servers are expected to serve banquets, private events, off-site catering, and match days. Our Food and Beverage program provides our players, fans, and guests with only the highest quality of accommodation and customized service.

The position is to be a key contributor to the Hospitality team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: “We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club.”

Essential Functions

  • Greet fans and guests immediately.
  • Provide professional service.
  • Menu and product Knowledge
  • Understand and communicate dietary restrictions and food allergens.
  • Deliver food and beverage to fans and guests.
  • Problem solve.
  • Be present, in front of fans and guests so you can attend to their needs.
  • Promptly address any issues, direct to manager.
  • Performs beginning and ending inventory as assigned.
  • Implement steps of service.
  • Follow safe food handling practices.
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service policies.
  • Keep dining areas clear of dishes, organized, and free of debris.
  • Maintain a clean and polished uniform.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Follow City Foods & Events and Sporting Kansas City policies and procedures.
  • Acts as an integral and efficient part delivering and providing excellent service to our players, fans, and guests.
  • Completes daily tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Open and closing procedures.
  • Inventory.
  • Adheres to and supports standardized control procedures.
  • Maintains complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned functions.
  • Maintains complete knowledge and complies with all policies and service procedures.
  • Performs cleaning duties as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1-year food and beverage experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be willing to work hours that vary, according to the event schedule.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Abilities

  • Long periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift and move at least 30 lbs.
