Group Leader - After School Program

Position: Group Leader

Department: Kids Space and CAP     

Status: School Year, Part Time (Morning and Afternoon Hours), non-exempt

Supervisor: Kids Space and CAP Director

Position Summary:

Serves under the Kids Space and CAP Director. Reports to Site Coordinator. Responsible for supervising and leading children in group activities. Also responsible for helping create ideas for programming.  Strives to further the mission of the JCC by creating quality programming for the JCC’s membership and the larger Springfield community.

All employees of the Springfield JCC are responsible for creating relationships with the members, to add value to their membership, and to enhance their sense of belonging with the JCC community.

Essential Functions:

Administrative

• Checking Face book group on a regular basis for work related updates and trainings
• Attending all staff meetings
• Assisting the Site Coordinator in activity design
• Filling out and maintaining up to date paperwork in their personnel file
• Filling out all incident and accident reports as witnessed
• Promoting program events through social media
• Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings
• Updating CPR and First Aid Certificates

Daily Programming

·   Filling out daily attendance sheets

·   Ensuring all children are offered and receive snack

·   Lead activities designed by Site Coordinator and Director

·   Communication with parents under the supervision of the Site Coordinator

·   Supervising all children

Qualifications:

·  Attending some form of academic program or has a GED or higher

·  Age 18 or older

·  Demonstrated effective communication skills – both verbally and written

·  Competent in speaking and writing the English language

·  Ability to multi-task effectively under pressure

·  Pass a Cori and Fingerprints background check

·  Be First Aid and CPR Certified

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.:

·  Experience in working with school aged children

·  First Aid and CPR Certification

Working Conditions:

·  Community Center and/or Public School locations

·  Indoor and outdoor settings all year round

Physical Requirements:

·  Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift Ability to lift 50 lbs.
