What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Manager position at Sprint?
Plans and implements activities related to the procurement of the most costly materials, parts, components, and equipment. Acquires materials in a cost-effective manner by performing cost analysis and volume planning. Supports the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities. Obtains materials, components, equipment and services. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure highest quality at best value. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria. Strong analytical, interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and four years related work experience or eight years related work experience post high school
- Three years procurement experience
