SUMMARY: The Planning Manager will provide direction, leadership and general oversight to the Tribe’s Planning Division. This position will work under the direction of the Director of Planning and Community Development to manage the day to day activities of the Planning Division, including the budget, employee/community relations and customer requests.

SUPERVISORY: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, write business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to reach with hands and arms; frequently will be required to sit, talk or hear; and occasionally will be required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The applicant will occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds. This position requires the use of a computer so close vision, i.e. clear vision at 20 inches or less is necessary.

Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree and 2 years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of related work experience. Prior work experience should be in business or nonprofit administration, grant writing, project management or community planning. Previous management/supervisory skills are desirable.
