Maverick’s Restobar & Lounge is looking for passionate and hardworking Cooks to join our team. Maverick’s Restobar & Lounge is located in the heart of Downtown Cincinnati, adjacent to the historic Cincinnatian Hotel, a Curio Collection by Hilton. We are hiring for 2nd shift, fulltime and parttime. Weekday and weekend availability is required.
Position Summary: The Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Essential functions of the position may vary based on client requirements and business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing high quality, timely food menu items for general service and special / private events to the exact spec provided
- Taking initiative to prepare general items (slicing and dicing etc.) for service to restock stations without the need for significant guidance
- Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
- Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
- Adhering to all Company SOP’s with regards to health & sanitation
- Keeping work-stations clean, organized and inspection ready at all times
- Cleaning and maintaining all small wares and equipment in the kitchen
- Ensuring that set-up and break-down tasks are completed to standard
- Ensuring that all local and state laws are followed as related to the service of food and the BOH facility in general
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as cook
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employees in this position work primarily indoors. To perform the job successfully the candidate must possess manual dexterity, must be able to stand for long periods of time, have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, and operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
