Software QA Engineer

Job Description Software QA Engineer (SS&C Technologies, Inc., Windsor, CT): The Software QA Engineer will be responsible for supporting testing efforts of large, complex financial applications. Specific responsibilities include: Ensuring that information systems products meet end-user functional and design requirements through the execution of software quality tests; Developing test scenarios and test plans for Integration, Functional, performance, regression, and/or acceptance testing; Performing risk assessments, determining testing plans, analyzing test results, and retesting software corrections to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken to maintain quality standards; Working on projects of a moderate scope or on varied tasks that require resourcefulness, self-initiative, and significant independent judgement; Demonstrating a developing functional knowledge to evaluate the implications of issues and make recommendations for solutions; Working closely with QA Automation team to design tests and data setup scenarios; Guiding less experienced team members. May recommend new procedures; Independently developing, applying and maintaining overall test strategies, detailed test cases; Performing in-depth analysis of application problems, including reviewing error messages, running advanced queries, and examining source code; Providing user support to business operations teams; Troubleshooting installation and performance issues on test environments. Telecommuting permitted. Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, or the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree through any combination of education, experience, or training, plus 2 years of experience in a QA Analyst/Engineering role. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field. Must have: Proven ability with quality assurance in a software development setting; Proven ability testing client and web server applications; Proven ability in Jira/Azure DevOps and other related tools; Proven ability with SQL query; Familiarity working in a fast-paced environment; Proven ability to quickly learn new systems; Familiarity with API testing using Postman or equivalent tool; Proven team player with good communication skills and ability to work independently.
