Under the supervision of a registered dietitian nutritionist, performs a variety of diet office functions in order to maintain the patient's nutrition care order accurately, and to organize the menus to ensure accuracy of diet order, timeliness of meal service and smooth food service operations.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes orders received from the patient care system. Accurately produces meal tickets, nourishments, tube feedings instructions and any special instructions for patient menus.
- Tallies and records all meals by unit for each meal. Communicates patient food needs to production staff by completing tallies accurately and within established time frame and by updating cooking staff on changes affecting production needs.
- Assembles patient trays, prepares nourishments and checks for accuracy and quality standards.
- Transports food trucks, delivers and picks up trays accurately and within established time frames and utilizing safe food handling and infection control processes. Communicates with units if any significant change in scheduled delivery or pick up.
- Ensures patient meal, snack and enteral nutrition orders are complete and does not exceed dietary restrictions. Ensures patient safety by following diabetic order procedures. Communicates any patient need to appropriate staff while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Maintains a sanitary work environment through following established procedures. Ensures all equipment is maintained and in good working order.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
