Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse, the RNA performs tasks that involve restorative care for residents which are supportive and complimentary of Nursing practice.

Essential Functions
- Performs restorative and therapy tasks on residents
- Assists nursing staff in providing restorative care to residents
- Maintains an integrated approach toward resident outcomes through restorative nursing programs
- Provides a suitable environment for the residents by giving attention to cleanliness, ventilation, lighting and furniture arrangements
- Works as a CNA depending on staffing needs
- Maintains a positive working relationship with all nursing staff, especially the CNAs
- Utilizes the proper technique and equipment to transfer residents
- Preserves the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times
- Practices confidentiality about the resident’s nursing care activities
- Promotes restorative nursing care as directed and instructed for individual residents
- Keeps alert to the resident’s condition and reports to the Charge Nurse, changes in the resident’s attitude, appearance, behavior, and physical ability
- Initiates standards and guidelines in restorative nursing practices
- Assists with bathing, dressing, and grooming residents
- Practices conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready for use, reports any equipment and supply needs to the Charge Nurse
- Promptly answers call signals/lights if the CNA is unavailable
- Transports residents as needed throughout the facility
- Assists residents as needed throughout the facility
- Recognizes and respects the resident’s individual emotional, social, and cultural needs, including their religious beliefs

- Competent and accurate PC and Data Entry needed on our system, safe and correct log in practices are vital, knowledge of the PCC system must be proficient in level after brief training and orientation
- Gathers and documents on resident’s data for restorative therapeutic purposes
- Serves meals to residents as needed

- Attends required in-services and safety meetings
- Implements the knowledge learned from in-services and safety meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Needs to walk a minimum 500 feet at a time, several times a day, must be able to walk up and down stairs in event of power/elevator outage or emergency and assist residents in doing the same
- Lift up to 50 lbs.: Occasionally to carry medical charts, supplies and resident’s personal items, e.g. clothing and food items; Occasionally when lifting soiled bed linens; occasionally to frequently when assisting an ambulatory resident in bathing or dressing
- Reach above shoulder height: Rarely, occurs when reaching for medical records or supplies located on shelves
- Reach at shoulder height: Frequently may occur while assisting resident in eating, when changing bed linens and when taking vital signs
- Reach below shoulder height: Frequently occurs while assisting residents with peri-care and bathing
- Push/Pull: Occasionally may be required to push a laundry cart which rolls easily across tile or carpeted floor
- Grasping: Frequently grasping while transferring resident
- Handling: Constantly handling residents’ personal items, blood pressure gauge, thermometer and eating utensils
- Fingering: Occasionally occurs while documenting residents’ medical chart
- Twisting: Occasionally may occur while transferring resident
- Bending: Occasionally occurs while taking vital signs, assisting resident in bathing, providing pericare, etc.
- Squatting: Occasionally may occur while bathing resident, also required when putting on shoes and socks of residents, and also when making eye-to-eye contact while talking if resident is in a wheelchair
- Kneeling: Occasionally may occur while bathing resident
- Crouching: Required when putting on shoes and socks of resident, and also when making eye-to-eye contact while talking to resident in a wheelchair
- During an eight-hour day employee is required to sit for one hour, stand for four hours and walk for three hours
- Must follow all safety measures and procedures
- Must follow the dress code policy
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from eighth grade is acceptable, graduation from High School or equivalent is preferred
- Current CNA Certificate
- Certificate in an RNA program
- Current CPR Certificate
- Some training and experience in basic nursing procedures
Additional Requirements
- Must keep all required certificates and/or licenses current
- Must be competent to use, maintain, and operate PC equipment, kisoks, PCC/POC system, nursing dept. software, type or use equipment at a reasonably adequate level for this campus

- Ability to carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal in English
- Ability to communicate in English
- Ability to record messages and keep simple records
- Demonstrates good character and continuing reputation of personal integrity
- Able to adequately perform the physical requirements of the position
