Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, develops and coordinates internal and external continuous learning plans and programs in conformance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs any functions, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to the members served by the Credit Union.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Plans, researches, recommends and organizes the learning and development activities including program development to include internal and external programs as well as other educational opportunities.   Monitors and evaluates the training methods and procedures used in both classroom and on-the-job training sessions.
  2. Contributes to a positive work environment and SMCU image by maintaining courteous, respectful and effective interaction, teamwork and communication with employees and members to enhance positive behaviors and employee satisfaction.
  3. Responsible for meeting or exceeding assigned sales and service goals.
  4. Manages the On-Boarding Program. Delivers and coordinates On-Boarding for all new employees. Continually researches current trends in the welcoming of new employees into the organization.
  5. Coordinates the planning, scheduling, implementation, enrollment, promotion, communication and assessment of various learning and development programs.
  6. Manages and assists in the design and development of cost effective electronic learning tools and databases as an alternative to traditional classroom training.
  7. Implements measurement tools to collect and analyze performance and developments needs data and delivers solutions to reduce and/or eliminate performance gap.
  8. Designs, delivers and implements unique and specialized learning curriculums that support shared and individual organizational needs and objectives.
  9. Conducts formal needs assessments and implements solutions based on best-in-class learning techniques.
  10. Develops and submits for approval, an overall learning and develop plan as well as goals for the business year.
  11. Develops, maintains and updates various learning and development manuals to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  12. Meets with managers on re-training issues and follows through on these issues.  Communicates to Management any issues that need to be addressed relative to training or procedures.
  13. Keeps current with industry activities and monitors industry publications for relevant information in the areas of learning and development as well as banking.

 

Other Functions:

  1. Performs related and unrelated duties as may be assigned or requested.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related training experience preferred.   Seven to ten year’s experience in education or training in a business environment required.  Strong knowledge of credit union products and services.   Must be able to travel to various credit union locations.  Ability to manage project initiatives from conception through execution is required.   Strong interpersonal, analytical, planning, large group facilitation and communication skills necessary.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Work Environment:

Usual office working conditions with absence of most disagreeable conditions and with occasional exposure to noise.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is required to use hands, handle and feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The individual frequently is required to stand, walk and sit.  The individual is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or lift up to fifteen pounds.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
