Staff Accountant

St. Mary's Food Bank is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for our busy Finance Department.The Staff Accountant will play a key role in the Finance Department and in the overall mission of our non-profit. This position is responsible for assisting in bi-weekly payroll processing, month-end close and completing monthly account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in bi-weekly payroll process including employee updates, timecard policy adherence, & timecard approvals
• Calculate and post journal entries for payroll and 401(k) withholdings
• Calculate life and disability monthly invoices
• Review accuracy of accounts payable invoices for proper coding and approvals
• Prepare journal entry and reconcile monthly investments for multiple accounts
• Prepare monthly journal entries with corresponding support as part of month end close
• Reconcile & analyze balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure transactions are recorded accurately
• Train corporate cardholders on proper policies regarding electronic receipt management
• Order and oversee proper controls of company gift cards
• Process and log daily donations received via mail
• Oversee annual workers comp audit through a partnership with HR
• Prepare requested documents and respond to inquiries for the 401(k) audit
• Assists Senior Accountant with external audit and single audit
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or combination of education and experience
• Thorough knowledge of accrual based accounting as well as understanding of financial statements
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Navision Accounting software is preferred
• Experience processing payroll in Paylocity is preferred
• Thorough understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles and practices
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Detail oriented and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
• Intermediate Excel skills
• Must maintain the highest standard of accuracy and confidentiality

Salary starting range is $50,000-60,000/annually.
