ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The Development Associate will focus all professional time on developing, implementing, and handling the management of a specific group of accounts for St. Matthew’s House. This position will work as a team with other Development Staff under the leadership of the Associate VP of Development. All efforts are comprehensive and support the donor moves strategy, as well as retention for contributions of $250. - $999.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Create and manage a plan of overall stewardship of current donors making gifts of $250 - $999, including strategies to grow relationships with a revenue goal of $150-250K.
- Create strategies to re-engage donors who have not renewed annual support.
- For each managed account, follow established procedures for tracking and recording contact conversations and next steps through a robust pipeline moves strategy.
- Develop and record opportunities in each record for continuity and donor stewardship.
- Track progress of gift renewals and reinstatements; strategize follow-up and intermediate moves.
- Reports to the AVP and works directly with the campaign staff and other departments regarding all specific activities; identifying all needed materials, including research and briefing papers, and sharing any objections donors raise during contact to ensure problem resolution takes place.
- Works closely to support Tours of Hope and cultivates donor relationships by offering excellent stewardship materials.
- Work closely with leadership to provide strategic information and guidance to assist in reaching the retention objectives essential to St. Matthew’s House.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Two to three years of Development experience.
- Passion for storytelling and making connections between donors and St. Matthew’s House.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- CRM/Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
- Ability to build rapport and trust quickly with new donors.
- Innate sense of relationship building through donor cultivation processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and sense of personal accountability.
- Ability to work effectively through re-organization processes and to demonstrate a solution minded spirit, one agile and flexible with strategy.
- Demonstrated experience working with confidential information.
- Solid collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
- Strong ability to be a self-starter and work both autonomously and as an active team participant.
- Passion for the mission of St. Matthew’s House
- Prior non-profit experience, preferred.
- Travel: Some travel is required for this role. This role is required to maintain primary auto insurance at minimum liability limits of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury, $100,000 property damage or $300,000 combined single limit.
- Hours: Some evening and weekend hours will be expected for this role.
- Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work; normal mental/visual capabilities.
- Physical Demand: Relatively little physical effort is required, but must move about the facility and possess the manual dexterity required to operate the computer and other business equipment.
- Working Conditions: Office environment.
