SNA’s Youth and Education team serves more than 6,000 young people each year in our early childhood center, 22 afterschool centers, 4 DOE Community Schools, 3 community centers and Career GPS, which includes extensive youth employment, attendance improvement, and college and career readiness programs. ABOUT PROGRAM DIRECTOR, WILLIAMSBURG BEACON AND COMPASS HIGH

St. Nicks Alliance has a 20-year partnership with the three high schools located on Grand Street Campus where we offer an array of programs and services through our Williamsburg Beacon and COMPASS high programs. Williamsburg Beacon is unique within the DYCD Beacon ecosystem, as its primary target population are 425 high school students. The focus of these services are post-secondary readiness, attendance improvement, counseling, wellness, summer bridge, credit recovery and youth development services, such as arts learning, gender circles, cooking, sports and recreation. Like traditional Beacons, we offer summer camp and holiday camp for K-8 students (275 persons), programs for adults (100 persons) and community events (500 persons). Programs occur during the schoolday, afterschool, summer, holidays, evenings and Saturdays. These services are reinforced by a small COMPASS High contract, which requires socio-emotional supports, leadership training and other services intended to foster school attachment for 50 9th and 10th graders.
Reporting to a Deputy Director, Program Director, Williamsburg Beacon and Compass High has overall responsibility for providing high-quality programming, hiring and developing an excellent staff, meeting full grant compliance, strengthening school partnerships, managing the budget and setting strategic direction. The Program Director ensures Williamsburg Beacon and COMPASS High are fully integrated into the thee high schools with programs and services that are responsive to student need. They partner with our Summer Youth Employment Program, also located on Grand Street Campus, our Teen portfolio and with our K-8 programs.
Responsibilities
The Program Director, Williamsburg Beacon and Compass High is an exciting, unique opportunity for an experienced COMPASS, SONYC or Beacon Director looking to take their skills, knowledge and career to the next level. This is a fantastic opportunity for a youth development professional who is deeply committed to and very knowledgeable about supporting K-12 students with a particular interest in post-secondary readiness and high needs teens. The ideal candidate must be highly skilled in partnering effectively with teens, school leadership, internal colleagues and external organizations to build on our teens’ strengths. They must be excellent at assessing needs and interests, then designing programming in response. They must have demonstrated ability to meet all grant requirements on a Beacon or similar contract with large numbers of diverse stakeholders. We seeks a leader who shares our belief in being present to our clients and one another, building trust, and holding ourselves and one another accountable.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Staff supervision and overall management
- Hire, train, and supervise highly competent staff, including fulltime and part-time staff. For schoolday, afterschool, evenings, weekends, holidays and summer camp.
- Refine infrastructure to ensure highest quality programs and scope of service
- Provide on-going observation and evaluation, coaching and feedback to staff
Program and Partnership Development
- Continually cultivate strong partnerships with school partners
- Ensure the ongoing and effective recruitment and retention of teen participants
- Develop strong relationships with parents, community adults and community partnerships
- Align program designs with division-wide prorgram models for each age group.
- Design, implement and measure dynamic year-round programs: For high school (425), year-round attendance improvement, counseling, robust career and college exploration and enrichment during schoolday, after-school, holiday and summer programs. For K-8 (275), oversee active, enriching theme-based summer camp. For youth/adults, offer robust evening and weekend offerings anc community events, including partnerships with other cbos. Gather resources and curriculum for all program components, as needed.

Administration, Budget and Data Reporting
- Ensure 100% compliance with all funding sources, School Age Child Care (SACC) and Summer Camp rules and regulations
- Develop and stay within budgets
- Manage data in DYCD online systems (enrollment, ROP, etc.) and SNA Efforts to Outcomes (school attendance, graduation, grades, etc.)

Requirements and Core Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling preferred.
- 3-5 years as a Program Director. Beacon or Cornerstone highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of youth development, DYCD and post-secondary readiness
- Strategic thinker who can envision the “big picture” while providing attention to detail
- Strong leader with effective communication and enthusiasm for continuous improvement
- Experience and commitment to coaching and developing young staff members

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
