ST. PAUL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST (Taylor, MI) is seeking a dynamic and talented organist/pianist to join our music ministry. We are looking for a talented and dedicated individual who enjoys playing the organ and piano in worship service.
Requirements:
- 5 years of professional organ and piano playing experience
- Ability to read music notation and play piano and organ professionally
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Ability to lead a choir providing organist and pianist accompaniment
- Must pass a background check
Duties: include:
ADMINISTRATIVE
a. The Organist is hired by the St. Paul Council; however, she/he will be
administratively accountable to the Senior Pastor.
b. The Organist shall attend all Worship Planning Ministry meetings.
c. All matters that affect the performance of the Organist and all concerns of the
Organist shall be promptly brought to the attention of the Senior Pastor by the
Organist. Should differences arise, the Senior Pastor is responsible for the final
decision.
2. WORSHIP
a. The Organist shall provide musical accompaniment for all worship services
established by the Senior Pastor, Director of Music or Church Council.
b. If requested by the Director of Music, the Organist shall work with him/her in the
selection of music to be performed.
c. In the absence of the Director of Music, if his/her schedule permits, the Organist
shall rehearse and conduct the Chancel Choir.
d. The Organist has the responsibility to cooperate with the Senior Pastor and
Director of Music in order that the worship service and total program of St. Paul
is one of unity and harmony.
3. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
a. The Organist shall provide musical accompaniment for other church programs
that require musical accompaniment, if required (i.e., Christmas Pageant, CE
Spring Program, Vacation Bible School, ABC, etc.).
b. The Organist shall provide input to the Director of Music during preparation of
the Annual Budget.
c. At the Organist discretion, when requested, she/he shall provide necessary music
for weddings and funerals at St. Paul church at which time separate compensation
is paid directly to the Organist by the requesting parties.
4. CHILDREN / YOUTH CHOIRS
a. The Organist shall be responsible for rehearsing and directing of the children and
youth choirs for Sunday morning worship (performing a minimum of 2 Sundays
per year).
5. QUALIFICATIONS
a. The Organist shall demonstrate the skills necessary to accomplish the purpose of
the Organist position, which is to provide the necessary music and musical
accompaniment for worship. She/he shall be a person of good moral character
and be committed to music as a medium for Christian ministry.

Pay: $11,000.00 - $11,500.00 per year
