Information Technology

Compensation: $76,296.54 - $95,370.68

Designs and develops new or enhanced enterprise systems applications that enhance end user productivity and support the computing needs of the assigned area of the college. In collaboration with the management, provides technical leadership in the development of technology solutions for one or more business areas of the college. Focus includes PeopleSoft and related enterprise applications.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Designs and Develops enhancements and new PeopleSoft applications.
  • Provides recommendations for streamlining business practices of functional units as required;
  • Engages in development testing, coordinates end user testing of computer system applications;
  • Provides and coordinates maintenance and end user support for PeopleSoft and other enterprise systems;
  • Interacts with the help desk to document and resolve technical problems expediently;
  • Documents implemented applications to facilitate effective support to the related systems;
  • Participates in the development of user and operational documentation.

Incumbents coordinate and implement the maintenance, use and enhancement of software or hardware systems critical to the operation of the College. Responsibilities may include analyzing system capabilities and implementing process and procedure changes to better utilize software or hardware; coordinating with software vendors regarding software support and system enhancements; coordinating projects involving the implementation of new software or hardware, or system changes; and training end users.

Knowledge:

  • One or more of the functional areas of HR/Payroll; Finance and Accounting; and Student Services Administration and/or Financial Aid.
  • Systems analysis and design principles;
  • Project management principles;
  • Applicable programming languages;
  • Process improvement principles;
  • Web site development methods, principles, and practices;
  • Operating systems;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Training principles;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Skills:

  • PeopleSoft development: PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQR, Application Engines, Component Interfaces, Integration Broker;
  • Database development: Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, PL/SQL;
  • Business Intelligence: PowerBI, SSAS, dimensional modeling;
  • Programming and troubleshooting applications, databases, and systems;
  • Utilizing and managing systems;
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards;
  • Monitoring and assessing web sites;
  • Training end-users on applications and systems;
  • Communicating technical information to a non-technical audience;
  • Interpreting customer requirements and translating into system specifications;
  • Using a computer and related software applications;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Position Summary:

This is the fourth of six levels in the Information Technology series. Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in information systems or a related field.

Experience:

Four (4) years experience in area of responsibility.

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Physical:

  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
