Entry Level HR Assistant / Bilingual

Position Summary

This position primarily supports the company’s Spanish speaking team members. Supports human resources department by screening and interviewing applicants; preparing, orienting new employees; administering employee benefit programs. Assists Scale Team by performing weighing functions at the front desk. Takes on additional administrative tasks as requested.

This position profile identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance. It cannot encompass all specific job tasks that an employee may be required to perform. Employees are required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform job-related duties as may be required by his/her supervisor.

Key Performance Areas (Essential Functions of the Position)

  • Assists HR Generalist with day-to-day HR operations.
  • Administers medical insurance, by advising employees of eligibility; providing application information; helping with form completion; verifying submission; notifying employees of approvals.
  • Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases, tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
  • Orients new employees by providing orientation information packets; reviewing company policies; gathering withholding and other payroll information; explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs.
  • Helps Spanish speaking staff as needed, assists in translation of documents.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
  • Accomplishes human resources department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Performs general administrative duties as assigned by upper management on site.
  • Operates scales and communicates with Scale Team.

Experiences / Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One to two years related business experience, human resource experience preferred.
  • Equivalent or combination of both
  • Bi-lingual required – Fluent in Spanish

Working Conditions

While performing the responsibility of the Human Resource Administrative Assistant’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment of the Human Resources Administrative Assistant will encounter.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving machines, cold and hot outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
