The Event Sales Manager is responsible for the supervision and management of staff in the Event Sales Department. They are directly responsible for all staff working the Star City Games Sales Booth at any event the Company attends. They are expected to maintain expense records on all inventory purchased by the department. Additionally, they are responsible for all preparation and reconciliation of inventory relating to the operation of the Sales Booth at events.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Extensive familiarity with Magic: the Gathering
- Familiarity with other TCGs that the Company offers.
- Experience purchasing TCGs in a professional setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess great attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Able to work well individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain flexible and accomplish tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Moderate to extensive familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint for collaboration.
Essential Duties:
- Work events the Company has a Sales Booth presence at with a focus on additional training and improving operations.
- Assist with event planning as it relates to operation and implementation of the Sales Booth.
- Develop and train staff with an emphasis on purchasing for the Company. Focusing on the following areas: customer service, card knowledge, ability to handle large collections (both bulk and valuable), increasing transaction speed and general best practices.
- Schedule staff for all shifts both in the office and at events. Work with Mail Buying manager to ensure storefront buying shifts are supported.
- Seek and contribute feedback regarding sales booth operations, organization, and staff contributions.
- Ensure all event inventory, including singles, supplies, and utility inventory are counted before events and after returning to maintain an accurate inventory.
- Aid staff with event preparation and reconciliation.
Supervisory Duties – Manager:
- Manage the department's overall workflow; ensure goals are met and all team members’ efforts are directed effectively; tasks are performed in a consistent, efficient, customer-focused manner.
- Conduct employee check-ins or touch base meetings, delegate as needed; post monthly evaluations of all team members to their notes.
- Ensure employee assessments for direct reports are completed timely.
- Recommend further training and/or counseling and/or issue disciplinary action when needed.
- Perform administrative tasks for the department, delegating to Senior members as needed.
- Evaluate staffing needs; hire for available positions.
- Engage with other Managers and Upper Management regarding company plans and changes; communicate pertinent information to the department.
- Participate in Manager’s Meeting and disseminate essential information to the department.

‘Frequently’ would generally occur for 2.5 to 5 hours each shift.
‘Occasionally’ would occur periodically but is necessary to complete essential duties.
- Frequently operate a computer, utilizing a mouse and keyboard.
- Frequently required to continuously walk.
- Occasionally may be required to drive Company vehicles for up to 8 hours to events
