What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Expeditor position at Starry Night Cafe?
Starry Night Cafe, located between Middlebury and Burlington, is looking for detail-oriented individual(s) to join our team as the food expeditor. The responsibilities of the food expeditor include maintaining the flow of orders from waiters to the kitchen to diners, ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with the finishing touches on dishes, and conducting quality control on each dish. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out quickly and more efficiently. You must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people.
Responsibilities
-Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the waiters to the kitchen
-Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority
-Assist in the final preparation of dishes
-Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
-Deliver orders to maintain fast service
-Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and assist in cleaning
-Transfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff (e.g. when a customer has a particular request or allergies)
-Support other tasks as needed
Requirements and skills
-Previous experience in a restaurant is required. Experience in BOH and FOH a plus
-Ability to keep cool under stress, be humble, flexible and maintain professional conduct
-Understanding of health and safety rules in a restaurant
-Dexterity in using kitchen equipment or utensils and carry plates
-Ability to lift up to 30lbs and stand for duration of a shift
-Well-organized and ability to lead and direct people
-Excellent communication skills
-Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities
-A customer-oriented approach
Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday shifts available
Pay: $19 an hour plus % tip out from FOH $$$
