Start Lighthouse Site Coordinator Responsibilities:
Program Implementation
Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of Start Lighthouse’s program at a partner school to ensure the Start Lighthouse’s program and curriculum meet students’ learning needs.
- Connect with classroom teachers to engage students with the Start Lighthouse program
- Collaborate with the Director of Programming, school faculty, and administration to identify the needs of each class
- Prepare for and teach engaging, multi-disciplinary activities, created by the Director of Programming, to support the learning goals determined in conjunction with faculty and administration
- Coordinate logistics for all assigned programs, including author visits, volunteer workshops, and corporate engagement opportunities
- Schedule workshop times for all programs
- Manage a collection of forms for programs, such as student portfolios, teacher agreements, surveys, etc.
- Supervise fellows, interns, and weekly volunteers in their daily and long-term project development, including fulfilling their roles and responsibilities
- Utilize existing systems to update and maintain data collection
- Participate in regularly scheduled programming meetings with leadership and fellow Literacy Hub coordinators to review processes, events, and experiences
- Participate in professional development opportunities and apply new skills to planning and developing programming
- Oversee maintenance, cleaning and organization of the Literacy Hub space on a daily basis
Relationship Management and Communication
Forge and maintain positive relationships within the school community to create a welcoming environment for students, volunteers, faculty, and staff.
- Represent Start Lighthouse as on-site ambassador to all members of the school community (administrators, teachers, parents, students, corporate partners etc.), and advance shared goal of addressing literacy crisis in our community by engaging all stakeholders
- Ensure consistent invitations, follow-ups and reminders for teachers and their aides about their Literacy Hub lessons
- Liaise regularly with SL leadership team and school administration, including tracking and problem solving logistical issues
- Maintain Programming Calendar and Student Portfolios
- Support Executive Director and leadership team for on-site special events and fundraisers
Qualifications
- Passion for literacy, reading, and books
- Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field
- Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail, the ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Proficient in G Suite, Zoom, Slack and able to learn and implement new technology quickly
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to engage students with positivity and enthusiasm
- Experience in meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities
- Proficiency in Spanish, preferable
