What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Machinist position at StarTribune?
Star Tribune is seeking a Maintenance Machinist/Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems on all production equipment. Experience with gas, arc, TIG, and MIG welding equipment is a plus. Installs new equipment and makes modifications to existing equipment as directed. Performs preventative maintenance on all production equipment as directed and supports the press production of the newspaper by maintaining the commercial press and inserting equipment. Press production is a 7-day per week, 365-days per year operation.
Hourly rate is $38.03 (union position), plus benefits. The 40-hour workweek may include weekends, nights, or holidays.
Uniforms, tool allowance, and shoe allowance included.
Qualifications
- A two-year degree from a trade school machinist, millwright, fluid power, or other related mechanical program is preferred, or five years experience as a maintenance mechanic in a production environment.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Printing-related work experience preferred or equivalent machinist/mechanical experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are required.
