Job Summary:

• This position’s duties include responsibility for the implementation, management and evaluation of Title IV, Part A programs of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and related enrichment content areas, and for serving as the Arts Education Specialist. This position is critical to the agency's implementation of Arizona's Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) state plan and other aligned state and local initiatives, particularly those related to providing a well-rounded education that includes arts education programs, arts integration, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) strategies.
• Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

Job Duties:

• Serve as the agency's primary content expert for well-rounded education, particularly with respect to Arts Education
• Monitor the Arts Education website, blog, newsletter, and contact lists, and serve on related state and national committees and taskforces
• Assist with the monitoring of the Arizona Arts Education standards and assisting teachers, community partners, and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with the implementation and evaluation of these standards
• Serve as the primary public contact for the Arizona Seal of Arts Proficiency and the Arizona Arts Education Data Project
• Provide content-specific Technical assistance and professional development. Serve on related agency conferences and trainings
• Responsible for overseeing the agency's Student Art Gallery
• Engage in performance management and collaborative monitoring activities to ensure grantees are accessing and expending Title IV-A grant, and other related areas, resources in accordance with all applicable requirements, and are leveraging resources effectively and efficiently to meet local needs and improve local capacities to support student learning outcomes, particularly through the lens of Arts Education
• Review and approve Integrated Action Plans (IAPs) and fiscal grant applications to ensure that grant funds are appropriately budgeted and expended in accordance with all applicable program requirements, and that all expenditures are aligned to local IAPs and assist in preparing and completing of administrative and monitoring reports
• Engage in a high degree of collaboration with ADE program areas, and other external partners, to help coordinate their activities with those of Arts Education, Title IV-A, and other applicable state plans and initiatives, and participate in agency divisional, unit and team meetings and working groups
• Assists with Educator & School Excellence visual communication and branding

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), particularly relating to Title IV, Part A, and Arizona Revised Statutes and State Board of Education rules governing public education
• Methods and instructional strategies that strengthen the academic program of a school and LEA, and help provide an accelerated and enriched curriculum and a well-rounded education
• How to meet the needs of children who are failing or are at risk-of failing
• Implementation of a well-rounded program of instruction, conditions for learning and systems of support to meet the academic needs of all students
• Arts education, to include evidence-based research models; local, state, and national policy models which further arts as part of a comprehensive curriculum for all students; and information on the performing arts industry
• Arts education including dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts content areas
• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute fo the degree, is required.

Ability to:
• Communicate effectively with educators, administrators, and the public
• Guide and support LEAs and schools in designing, implementing, and evaluating effective Arts Education, Title IV-A, and other related programs
• Absorb highly technical, specialized knowledge related to Arts Education, Title IV-A programs and other federal, state, and local programs and initiatives, particularly programs, services and activities related to supporting well-rounded education
Identify and create connections between Arts Education, Title IV-A programs and other related federal, state, and local programs and initiatives

Selective Preference(s):

Preference will be given to those applicants with:
• Three or more years of combined professional experience related to PK-12 education; preferably with Title I programs
• Experience delivering technical assistance and professional learning in the design, implementation, and evaluation of accelerated, enriched, and well-rounded educational programs & services
• Experience managing federal or state grants, to include fiscal and programmatic management and reporting

Retirement:
