FORESTRY AIDE (SEASONAL) - CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / VENTURA SECTOR
Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).
The Forestry Aide reporting location is the Channel Coast District Office which is located at San Buenaventura State Beach and/or Emma Wood State Beach-Group Camp. This position will work under the direction of the Supervising State Park Ranger and/or under the daily direction of a State Park Ranger.
The Forestry Aide assists in all aspects of forestry management tasks: fire prevention, natural resources management, pest management, invasive species management, planning, crew coordination, trash removal, and activity reporting. The majority of these tasks would be performed at Emma Wood State Beach - Group Camp/Ventura River Property. Following agency policies is essential. Work hours currently are Monday- Wednesday or Monday-Thursday from 8am-4:30pm. 24-32 hours per week. Schedule and hours are subject to change.
Applicants must have a valid driver's license, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to read, write, and speak English at a level required for successful job performance. Additionally, applicants must have the ability to follow directions, learn work procedures and park rules, and interact positively with the public. The majority of work will take place on weekdays, however, occasional work will take place on weekends, holidays, and during irregular hours. This position is subject to live scan fingerprint clearance, requires a Class C Driver's License, and requires the purchase and wearing of a State Park uniform. State Park grooming standards must be met.
State housing is not available.
