The Department of Revenue (DOR) employs approximately 1,600 hard-working and dedicated employees throughout Colorado. We can be seen performing functions as varied as auditing and collecting taxes, issuing driver licenses and motor vehicle titles, marketing lottery products, and regulating liquor, gaming, horse racing, marijuana, and the auto industry in order to assist the citizens of our state.

Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides services used by nearly every citizen of the State. Colorado citizens utilize identification, driver, and vehicle services at State and County offices to obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other related services. Additionally, the DMV licenses and provides oversight of private businesses and government organizations that provide driver and emission testing services. Finally, the division works closely with other state agencies and programs to provide information and education to serve the public and encourage voluntary compliance.


The Executive Assistant to the Driver License Director is a high visibility role with a lot of responsibility, which can include many different interactions with high level management throughout the day. Some common responsibilities to expect in this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing the director's email to divert correspondence as necessary 
  • Managing the director's schedule, scheduling meetings as appropriate, and running point on meetings in the director's absence
  • Coordinating public meetings, sending out invites as appropriate, and formulating agendas along with prior meeting minutes
  • Pulling action items from meetings as necessary and delegating appropriate prior to next meeting 
  • Coordinating business travel for Director and Driver License staff as necessary
  • Assisting with correspondence regarding new policies or procedures and distributed on the director's behalf
  • Collaborating with the employee engagement committee  to create the Driver License Section newsletter
  • Maintaining high levels of confidentiality, as this position interacts with many high level pieces of information that need not be distributed
  • Working with the Driver License fleet program and keeping track of the cars assigned to the fleet
  • Managing Real ID project to maintain compliance with Department of Homeland Security
This position will require the flexibility to work independently from home. This position is currently tasked with performing work duties via flex-place (aka telework, work-from home arrangements) with as needed on-site visits.

Must meet one of the following or any combination of experience/education to meet the qualifications:


OPTION 1:

  • 5 years of experience in general clerical & data entry, administrative assistant, communications, scheduling, event planning, or a regulatory environment

    • General Clerical Work is work that is typically performed by office clerks, receptionists and/or administrative assistants. This includes, but is not limited to tasks such as:

      • Experience providing exceptional customer service and interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community, greeting customers, referring them to the right people, making appointments

      • Answering phones, using a phone switchboard or managing multiple lines and taking messages, sending or making memos

      • Data Entry including: entering information into a program or database (appointments, contact information, customer records)

      • Familiar with the equipment and software used in offices (E-Mail, Google Suite - Docs, Sheets, Slides)

      • Operation of sophisticated computer systems, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies

      • Typing letters, reports, briefings, forms, memoranda, etc.

      • Checks and compares data for accuracy and completeness

OPTION 2:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any Business focused degree, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, or Public Affairs

  • 1 year of professional experience in general clerical & data entry, administrative assistant, communications, scheduling, event planning, or a regulatory environment


OR


OPTION 3:

  • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Competencies required for all DOR positions include good communications skills, interpersonal and people management skills, the ability to multitask, the ability to work with confidential information, the ability to work in high-stress environments, and the demonstrated ability to assist customers.

 Conditions of Employment with the Colorado Department of Revenue:
1.   As a condition of employment with the Colorado Department of Revenue, a requirement exists that all personnel timely file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and timely pay tax obligations.  As such, all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy.
2. Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. All job finalists require successful completion of a background investigation and reference check prior to appointment.
