The Florida College System consists of the 28 public state and community colleges which provide access to high-quality, affordable academic and career educational programs that maximize student learning and success, develop a globally competitive workforce, and respond rapidly to state and community needs.

 

Job Description

The individual in this position serves as the Executive Director of the Florida College System Foundation, Inc. (FCSF). This employee exercises independent judgment for day-to-day operations of the FCSF. Oversees and is responsible for the operations of the FCSF, all special events related to the FCSF, and developing partnerships with public, private and philanthropic organizations; developing marketing and fundraising strategies; and developing and securing contracts, grants and other forms of supplemental funding to support programs and services for the Florida College System under the supervision of the Department of Education in accordance with s. 1004.71, Florida Statutes. Employee's time and effort is assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

  • Plans, coordinates, and manages meetings of the board of directors, finance and investment committee, and by laws committee of the FCSF.
  • Keeps all official records of the FCSF whose assets are approximately $24,000,000.00.
  • Prepares and manages FCSF budget, individual grants budgets, and endowed scholarships disbursements.
  • Prepares all administrative and financial reporting for the FCSF, including Form 990 and audit requirements.
  • Administers contracts with individuals and vendors entered into by the FCSF.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with public, private and philanthropic organizations.
  • Develops and implements marketing and fundraising strategies with the FCSF Board of Directors and Chancellor of the Florida College System.
  • Manages fiscal aspects of all special events sponsored or related to the FCSF and coordinates efforts with the Chancellor and applicable Division of Florida Colleges program staff.
  • Manages fiscal aspects of Chancellor’s Leadership Seminar.
  • Manages all FCSF scholarship and grant programs, including all budgeting, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Serves as liaison to the Florida Council for Resource Development (FCRD) and to Florida College System institution foundation/DSO directors.
  • Assists program staff in development of and secures contracts, grants, and other forms of supplemental funding to support programs and services for the Florida College System.
  • As a member of the Chancellor’s leadership team, fully participates in a broad range of policy development on issues which increase access and completion for Florida's residents and college system students.
  • Assists with special recognition activities and convenings for the Division of Florida Colleges and the Commissioner of Education in conjunction with Division and Department staff, including the Florida Education Foundation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of related professional experience, including fund raising, board relations, and working with financial reports, budgeting and record keeping.
  • Experience with event coordination or marketing.
  • Ability to interpret legislation as it relates to the Florida College System Foundation.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences will be given to applicants who have excellent project management skills, and a background in working with a foundation or a non-profit board.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

LEAVE INFORMATION: SMS/SES

  • Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
  • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
