Your Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising staff, including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, having the hiring authority, and taking disciplinary action or recommending such actions.
The incumbent manages integrated communications and health equity activities in the HIV/AIDS section and is needed for the Bureau of Communicable Diseases in the Division of Disease Control and Health Protection. The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment in formulating policies and implementing activities that significantly impact the Agency's priority to reduce new HIV infections. The incumbent must possess professional and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees and management within the HIV/AIDS section, Bureau of Communicable Diseases, Executive Staff, county health department (CHO) staff, and Federal and Community partners.
Integration and Communication
Establish and evaluate internal communication processes to ensure timely communication within the HIV section, Bureau of Communicable Disease, to the division director office, across divisions, and among county health departments on all HIV/AIDS program services and initiatives.
Establish and evaluate external communication processes to ensure timely communication with external partners, including but not limited to the Florida community planning network and associated subcommittees, Ryan White part partners, other Ryan White partners as appropriate, and other state agencies and federal partners. Ensure the sections SharePoint sites and websites are kept up to date, and the main landing pages reflect current priorities and information relative to efforts to reduce HIV infections in Florida in Azure. People living with HIV/AIDS in Florida are aware of the services available to them.
Ensure the implementation of a statewide HIV/AIDS prevention campaign is directed towards minorities who are at risk of HIV infection, per 381.0046, Florida Statues.
Ensure communication strategies with priority populations for HIV activities are culturally and linguistically appropriate. Facilitate workgroups with the subject matter experts to obtain input on new or revised communication strategies targeted toward priority populations.
Attend meetings and provide summaries to the Section Administrator and Bureau Chief.
Health Disparities
Provide oversight for planned activities by the statewide minority HIV/AIDS coordinator. Ensure collaboration across the HIV section, with the STD and Viral Hepatitis section, and with other HD programs to review epidemiological data, identify gaps, and establish and implement strategies to address gaps.
Provides oversight for community engagement and mobilization, social marketing, capacity building, and training activities.
Ensure training and information on health equity and social determinants of health are provided to all Bureau of Communicable Diseases staff.
Serve as the liaison for the Office of Health Disparities.
Knowledge Management
Foster a learning environment that includes establishing and regularly evaluating knowledge management processes for training new staff, sharing information among current staff, and transferring knowledge from long-term employees or those leaving the organization to ensure the continuation of program functions and services.
Chair and convene section and Bureau ad-hoc workgroups as needed, direct projects to those workgroups, and continuously report actions and findings to the Section Administrator and Bureau Chief.
Supervision and Assignment Tracking
Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance and complete performance reviews. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets. Ensures all staff complete all required annual training and are offered additional training.
