ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent of this position is subject to pre-employment, post-accident, random and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, and the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations, Title 49, Part 382, CFR.
Successful completion of a drug test is a condition of employment in the position in accordance with Section 112.0455 F.S. “Drug Test” means any chemical, biological or physical instrumental analysis administered for the purpose of determining the presence or absence of a drug or its metabolites.
The incumbent must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six (6) months of appointment. The Florida Forest Service will cover the majority of the cost associated with attaining the required CDL training and the initial CDL test when administered at an agency authorized CDL training center.
Successful applicant will be subject to pre-employment and annual queries through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Occasional to moderate travel required.
Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.
JOB DUTIES:
Performs site and facility maintenance, including landscaping, basic carpentry, and electrical and mechanical repairs. Performs equipment maintenance on vehicles, other machinery and forestry tools. Maintains the forest road system, assists in road building, mows recreational trails and harrows existing fire lines.
Responsible for monitoring and coordinating the use of recreation areas by the public on Goethe State Forest. Collects and reconciles user fees and insures the enforcement of applicable rules and regulations. Provides information to the public and conducts guided tours as required. Assists with the development of new recreation areas and facilities.
Responsible for selecting, marking, measuring and recording data of standing trees for timber sale purposes following verbal or written instructions. Checks logging operations to insure compliance of logging contractors. Assists Foresters with other forest management activities, including stand description, forest inventory, prescribed burning, reforestation, insect and disease control and ecosystem restoration.
Researches, performs and reports on specific projects related to resource management. Conducts any required wildlife habitat management work on the tract and controls exotic plant pests which may occur on the area. Insures that endangered and threatened species are protected on the property.
Performs other related work as assigned.
