Your Specific Responsibilities :
This position is a highly responsible, fulltime professional position responsible for initiating and coordinating tobacco prevention and control activities.
All staff working on this project must be tobacco free and not use electronic nicotine delivery systems. Duties and responsibilities include :
Eliminates Floridians’ exposure to secondhand smoke by educating local multi-unit housing complexes on the benefits of implementing tobacco free policies.
Prevents initiation of tobacco use among Florida’s youth and young adults by educating local officials on the benefits of implementing policies to Counteract Tobacco Industry Influences at the Retail Point of Sale (POS).
Promotes youth empowerment by increasing skills, knowledge of tobacco issues and prevention and advocacy training and provides education and support to the School District in order to ensure adequate and current T obacco Control Model Policies in K-12 Schools .
Promotes a tobacco-free lifestyle in the community.
Ensures in the maintenance of a local tobacco-free community partnership and SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) Chapter for the youth leadership clubs by helping to organize meetings, conducting business, training in skills needed and activities of the partnership / clubs.
Assists in recruiting partnership members. Assists with the coordination of partnership activities within the county.
Provide outreach activities including participating in community events by partnering with FL Department of Health in Liberty’s programs and initiatives and community partners.
Assists in conducting health risk assessments of the target population using a DOH approved health risk assessment instrument.
Represents the CHD on local committees, boards, and coalitions for tobacco prevention.
Attends scheduled trainings as required. This position requires in-county and out of county travel, travel with youth and some weekend and evening hours.
Promotes cessation through Tobacco Free FL’s Quit Your Way program and DOH wellness initiatives and refers community members to tobacco cessation and health services offered at the local level.
Provide programmatic and fiscal support for Liberty County Tobacco Prevention Program. Maintain and adequately manage the Tobacco budget.
Serves as the point of contact for tobacco prevention and control for the county health department.
Develops and submits a tobacco intervention workplan and complete all reporting within required timeframes.
Responsible for obtaining policy change within the county.
Performs community needs assessments-to identify strategies for tobacco prevention, adult and youth use reduction, and development of activities to support policy change that effectively reduce tobacco use and access to tobacco products and to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke.
Assist in the continued administration of the local tobacco-free community partnership inclusive of recruitment and retention of coalition members.
Will organize meetings and conduct business and activities of the partnership' Coordinates partnership activities within the county.
Works with local schools and with SWAT coordinators to plan and implement anti-tobacco education and trainings. Coordinates with youth prevention component, Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), for recruitment and retention of youth in the SWAT organization and working with youth to develop youth trainings and events that promote policy change.
Actively recruits youth to be included in the local tobacco free partnership.
Manage and maintain the deliverables and budget for the Calhoun County Tobacco Healthy Babies initiative.
Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to provide assistance needed in response to and recovery following natural or man-made disasters.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision; Ability to implement appropriate behavior change model to achieve goals;
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement programs; Ability to work with youth and adults; Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments;
Ability to build and maintain partnerships; Skilled in written and oral communications; Public speaking, coalition building and program development skills, management expertise and knowledge of state procurement and budget management are recommended.
Marketing and public relations experience is recommended. Knowledge of computers.

Preferred Knowledge and experience of the Tobacco Prevention program, ATACS reporting and budget management.
