ABE/ASE Adjunct Instructor

Atlanta Technical College is seeking highly qualified applicants for their ABE instructor position, located on the main campus which is just south of downtown Atlanta.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify student goals based on individual pre-assessments.
• Teach Adult Education classes that consist of reading, math, science, social studies, and/or language skills.
• Deliver effective Adult Education instruction based on Standard-Based instruction, utilizing lesson plans and individual student learning plans.
• Plan, develop and implement lessons that require the use of higher order thinking skills.
• Evaluate students’ ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives.
• Develop individualized student education plans for each participant and prepare students for post-testing.
• Submit student attendance daily.
• Monitor student data weekly.
• Promote the Adult Education program to public and private organizations through the Service Delivery Area of the college.
• Participate in the EAGLE competition.
• Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Plan, organize and participate in staff development and team conferences.
• Maintain a secure classroom environment.
• Demonstrate teamwork, customer service and organizational commitment.
• Assist with recruitment and retention activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree, 2 years’ experience in Adult Education, 1 year of teaching experience, experience working with diverse backgrounds, experience with state standards (CCRS), digital literacy and Microsoft suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, 2 years’ experience in Adult Education, 1 year of teaching experience, experience working with diverse backgrounds, experience with state standards (CCRS), digital literacy and Microsoft suite.
