What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) position at State of Georgia?
Pathways Center Care Campus has two 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Units; one for adults and one for individuals ages 5-17. Pathways Center's Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU's) are short term (2-7 days), medically monitored crisis residential programs, which offer services for a limited duration to stabilize acute psychiatric or behavioral symptoms, evaluate treatment needs, and develop plans to meet the needs of persons served. The programs operate 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The CSU's are designed to serve as a first line of community based alternative care to hospitalization, offering psychiatric stabilization and detoxification services on a short term basis.
Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse will include but not be limited to the following:
- Interview consumers and/or family members using acceptable techniques that are appropriate for the individual's level of functioning to obtain necessary information regarding medical, social, and/or emotional background
- Reviews referrals, and makes preliminary determinations regarding appropriateness for admission and communicates with physician to obtain admission orders.
- Perform routine tests and take vital signs regularly as prescribed in each individual plan of care
- Accurately documents using the organization's Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Collaborates effectively with other treatment team members in the development of and monitoring of each consumer's plan of care
- Modifies plan of care as indicated by reassessment of individual's needs
- Schedules outside clinic appointments/special activities as necessary following established protocol or physician/clinician orders; follows up on appointments as needed
- Administers medication(s) in the proper method, time, and dosage as indicated by the established plan of care and documents in client’s record; Explains medication and treatment to patient/consumer
- Makes rounds, either with physician/clinician or independently as required or appropriate
- Immediately responds to consumers in acute distress according to established guidelines
- Maintains accurate and well-organized office files and medical records
- Regularly monitors patient compliance with health instructions (e.g. dietary guidelines) and self medication; Takes corrective action as necessary
- Conducts regular sanitation inspections of the unit/program
- Develops complete discharge plans utilizing available resources
- Adheres to universal precautions in all situations to prevent the spread of infection
- Actively participates in departmental staff meetings as required to discuss needs, goals, objectives, and outcomes of services, quality assurance, infection control, etc.
