The Division of Medicaid, is currently seeking a Project Coordinator with experience in Medicaid or other health care industry work including government or private health care background. The position is located in Boise’s Central Office.
This position is required to work in-person at Boise’s Central Office.
The Project Coordinator position is an intermediate level position that supports the Bureau of Financial Operations within the Division of Medicaid. As Project Coordinator, you will assist in the research, development, analysis, and execution of various reimbursement projects for long-term institutional care, home and community-based services, and long-term support services providers. Projects consist of state plan amendments, cost surveys, supplemental payment programs, and reimbursement rate reviews. This position works directly with internal and external stakeholders via email, in-person and virtual meetings, and phone calls. Internal stakeholders include but are not limited to Division and Department program support staff as well as other state agency staff. External stakeholders include but are not limited to provider groups, provider associations, third-party contractors, other state Medicaid agency staff, and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services staff.
Ideal candidates will have Medicare or Medicaid experience and government or audit/financial-based project management experience. Candidates must excel in working independently, have strong organizational skills, and be detail-oriented to manage multiple projects for multiple provider groups. Candidates will also work with third-party contractors and internal staff to develop memorandums, information releases/newsletter articles, budget recommendation write-ups, and coordinate reports, federal and state updates for policy changes, and updates to reimbursement methodology changes.

- Liaise with provider groups, provider associations, and third-party contractors in sourcing financial and utilization activities to monitor provider reimbursement rates and supplemental payments for projects.
- Conduct tasks related to supplemental payment and pre-print activities for long-term support services and home and community-based provider groups.
- Collaborate with division and department program subject matter experts to design, develop, implement, and/or execute project tasks and activities.
- Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, variances, and updates to ensure acceptable policies and procedures have been followed and for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations in general and those related to Medicaid reimbursement and certain enrollment requirements.
- Assist in the development of financial information including financial impacts and budget reconciliations.
- Communicate and problem-solve to foster professional interpersonal relationships required with other intergovernmental financial professionals, program budgeting, and project managers within the Department.
- Respond to inquiries from Medicaid staff and other department units, state officials, and the public.
- Complete other duties, tasks, or assignments as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum and specialty minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. - Experience planning and implementing projects. Typically requires at least one year of experience managing projects. Experience must have included being responsible for the development (needs assessment, planning and budgeting) of the projects as well as being responsible for assessing the projects toward goals and project outcomes.
- Experience developing, promoting and gaining project support. Typically requires at least one year of experience developing, identifying, recruiting and coordinating resource support to meet identified needs or problems. Promotional campaigns or similar support mechanisms are examples. Simple fundraising efforts such as for a baseball league or team, or organizing sales events such as rummage or garage sales would not qualify.
- Experience interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public. Typically requires at least one year of experience involving the interpretation of specialized or complex information such as laws, policies, procedures, rules, etc., where the information was analyzed and communicated into information that was usable by the public or the project team in various formats (oral, written, graphic, WEB based, etc.)
SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Good knowledge of social service programs serving the elderly and/or disabled including social, economic, and health issues of the elderly and/ or disabled. Typically requires at least one year of experience working with social service programs serving the elderly, including social, economic, and/or health issues of the elderly.
Experience working with Medicaid or health care/health care insurance programs and researching and analyzing data for accuracy, trends, variances, and updates to ensure acceptable policies and procedures have been followed and for compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations in general and those related to Medicaid reimbursement and certain enrollment requirements. Typically requires at least one year of demonstrated work experience.
Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
- Experience providing reports to leadership and management. Typically gained by one year of demonstrated work experience.
- Experience working with financial accounting or auditing in health care providers and/or health care insurance programs. Typically gained by one year or more of demonstrated work experience.
