The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, Lewiston facility is now hiring for full-time Rehabilitation Supervisor.

As a Rehabilitation Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of employees in providing rehabilitative therapeutic services. Shift differential available at a 5 percent increment! Requirements for being eligible are as follows:

  • Regular Work Schedules: Employees who have 50 percent or more (20 hours or more in a 40-hour work week) of their assigned hours in a work week occurring between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and hours worked on weekends (Saturday 12:00 AM through Sunday 11:59 PM)

This position must attend a two-week POST academy in Meridian, Idaho. Training and time are paid by IDJC and must be completed within first year of employment.

Responsibilities:

1. Staff supervision:


  • Participates in staff selection
  • Orients and trains staff and evaluates performance
  • Establishes work schedules and monitors completion of assignments
  • Interprets, explains, and enforces policies and procedures
  • Resolves staff problems and counsels employees

2. Treatment:

  • Coordinates implementation of treatment strategies developed by treatment team and ensures delivery of rehabilitative services
  • Schedules and chairs team meetings
  • Participates in developing treatment strategies
  • Coordinates training sessions conducted by subordinate staff
  • Monitors documentation of treatment services to insure completeness and accuracy
  • Acts as a role model for appropriate conduct and decision-making
  • Encourages and motivates juveniles Implements intervention techniques and facilitates problem-solving sessions with juveniles
  • May provide individual and group counseling

3. Juvenile security:

  • Supervises juveniles to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, to protect individual rights, and maintain security Intervenes in confrontations between juveniles
  • Provides first aid
  • Reports accidents, changes in health, or other emergencies
  • Transports offenders to other facilities, outside appointments, work or community service activities
  • May assist in searches for runaways

4. Unit operation:

  • Directs planning and implementation of free time and special living unit activities
  • Coordinates activities with other organizational units
  • Evaluates unit for cleanliness, safety, and security
  • Authorizes and arranges for living unit supplies and personal items for juveniles Investigates incidents between staff and juveniles
  • Maintains records and prepares reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must meet entrance requirements and become certified by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections
  • Good knowledge of: Intervention, counseling, and group facilitation methods Individual and group behavior of juveniles; therapeutic recordkeeping procedures; recreational activities for juveniles
  • Some knowledge of: Supervision

Experience in the following areas:

  • Implementing treatment strategies
  • Identifying and describing behavioral patterns
  • Working with juveniles in a group setting
  • Recognizing when a juvenile is being harassed or abused by others
  • Composing written reports

Willingness to:

  • Deal with violence, harassment, threats, verbal abuse
  • Break up fights, control disturbances, and physically restrain offenders
  • Perform searches for contraband and weapons
  • Work alone unarmed among unrestricted offenders
  • Work in secure/locked facility in confined spaces
  • Work in high-stress, hostile environments
  • Learn and follow department policies, procedures, rules, and instructions
  • Set aside personal prejudices and be fair
  • Become certified in CPR

Physical requirements: No hearing, sight, or physical limitations that would prevent performance of duties.

Must meet federal PREA Standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or Experience with behavior shaping and/or social learning
