Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Maintenance Equipment Operator for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois to receive day-to-day guidance from the Chief Stationary Engineer.
Makes routine trips such as mail runs. Keeps simple records of trips including mileage, times, and whereabouts. Keeps assigned equipment in operational order by making simple repairs and adjustments to equipment / vehicles.
Operates mowing equipment, tractors, and similar maintenance equipment in the performance of groundskeeping tasks. Keeps vehicles clean and neat inside and out.
Travels in performance of job duties.
Job Responsibilities
- Drives facility vehicles, including vans, cars, and trucks, for transporting patients and employees provides transportation for escorted patients trips including doctor’s appointments, hospital visits, community activities, special events and other similar events.
- Makes routine trips such as mail runs.
- Keeps simple records of trips including mileage, times, and whereabouts.
- Keeps assigned equipment in operational order by making simple repairs and adjustments to equipment / vehicles.
- Utilizes Class B CDL License while operating maintenance equipment such as trucks, tractors, automobiles, busses, snowplows, and mowing equipment.
- Operates mowing equipment, tractors, and similar maintenance equipment in the performance of groundskeeping tasks.
- Attends and actively participates in all mandatory training.
- Keeps vehicles clean and neat inside and out.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
- Requires one-year experience in performing a variety of semi-skilled mechanical and manual tasks in the maintenance and operation of automotive or related maintenance equipment.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires a valid Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) Class B.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
