What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ranger position at State of Illinois?
Under general supervision, is a functional supervisor of a crew engaged in maintenance, operational, and program support tasks; assists Site Superintendent with administrative duties for Sam Parr State Park.
Requires education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree with courses in life sciences or parks and recreation supplemented by one year of maintenance experience; requires a valid Class D Illinois Driver's License; requires ability to obtain a pesticide operator's license; working knowledge of department rules and regulations; elementary knowledge of outdoor recreational and natural program administration; ability to prepare and maintain operating records and reports; ability to assign tasks and direct and review the work of subordinate staff; requires physical ability to operate and maintain tools, equipment and materials utilized in the maintenance, repair and care of site resources, artifacts, buildings and grounds; requires ability to lift, carry and transport loads which may exceed sixty pounds; requires ability to withstand exposure to the elements on a year round basis; requires ability to walk over rough and broken terrain.
Anticipated Starting Salary: $3523-3843
Current bargaining unit employees: CBA language applies
Full Bargaining Unit Range: $3523-5063 per month
WORK HOURS
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, 1/2-hour lunch, rotating weekend schedule
WORK SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DUE TO SEASONAL OPERATIONS.
