What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk Advanced position at State of Iowa Talent Gateway?
Duties: This position supports the N. Lee/Ft. Madison DHS office and Service Area by providing a variety of administrative support duties of a quasi-administrative nature to conduct specialized technical and clerical processes accurately and within timeframes.
Prepares correspondence, and processes incoming and outgoing mail to include opening, sorting, date stamping, imaging, indexing, distributing, and narrating on computer records. Assists in the training of other clerical personnel. Provides limited PC support and coordinates equipment maintenance. Maintains paper and electronic documents and filing systems. Utilizes imaging and scanning equipment, indexes necessary forms in virtual folders in a predetermined sequence. Initiates necessary computer documents on all appropriate cases in establishing computerized master records. Contacts other agencies and customers to make inquiries and gather information. Provide customer service at the front desk and by phone. Perform administrative duties according to agency policies and procedures, so that office personnel needs are met. Will be expected to back up other clerical staff when requested to do so. Provides supervisory assistance as well as other general administrative duties. Operates photocopy machines, calculators, and other standard office equipment.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical office or closely related work.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where one month of accredited post-high school course work in a secretarial, business, or closely related program equals one month of full-time experience.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in number one), where 30 semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
- A total of one year of education and/or experience (as described in numbers one through three), where certification from the state of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program equals six months of full-time experience.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of six months of full-time work as a Clerk.
