About this position:

The majority of duties and responsibilities are processing complaints and conducting investigations, which include: receives, reviews, and evaluates written and oral complaints from the public filed against Licensees, or from other sources of information (BADAR Reports, NPDB Reports, LSP Arrest Reports, US DOJ Press Releases, Public new stories, Malpractice Reports, etc) which indicate a Board licensee may have violated a State/Federal law and/or the Boards Rules and Regulations. Researches a variety of internal and external records, to include State and Federal Laws and Board Regulations related to specific investigative case issues. Develop investigative plans for each case which may include preparing written communications; obtaining and reviewing complex medical records; reviewing malpractice or criminal legal documentation; interviewing licensees, complainants, or other parties; and preparing detailed reports of investigative findings. Routinely collaborate investigative efforts with the Director of Investigations, other Board staff, licensees, and outside legal counsels. Prepare Investigative finding for monthly Board meetings as necessary and testifying at Board meeting/hearings as requested.

Additional specific areas of responsibilities:

Maintain regular communications with La. Board of Pharmacy to identify and investigate issues related to Controlled Dangerous Substances prescribing.

Review all telemedicine permits and dispensing applications to determine the licensee is eligible /practice is consistent with the regulations.  

As a part of a career progression group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Compliance Investigator, 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the Compliance Investigator 3 is $85,883.00. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree.
 
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
 
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
 
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
 
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
 
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
 
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

FUNCTION OF WORK:

Conducts investigations on violations regarding Board/Agency policies, state and federal statutes, Civil Service rules, licensure and/or ethics.

 

LEVEL OF WORK:

Entry.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Direct from a Compliance Investigator 4-B, Executive Director or higher-level administrator.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

 

LOCATION OF WORK:

May be used by all state agencies.

 

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from law enforcement investigators by emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations.

 

Differs from Compliance Investigator 2 by performing entry-level compliance investigations.


Differs from Compliance Investigator 4-B by absence of supervision duties.
