This position may be filled as:
- TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT: This position may be filled by a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
- PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT: Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A master's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation counseling or instruction, in a technical or administrative health field, corrections, penology, biblical or religious studies, theology, divinity or education followed by two years of professional experience in social services, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation counseling or instruction, health services, health services administration, corrections, penology, ministry, or in the treatment or rehabilitation of offenders.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
NOTE:
The master's degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200 Alexandria, VA 22314.
Function of Work:
To manage a treatment team in a juvenile correctional facility, or to manage medical, rehabilitative, or social services programs at an adult correctional facility housing 350 - 1300 inmates and having no special functions.
Level of Work:
Manager.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a higher-level management/administrative official.
Supervision Exercised:
Direct over various professional level medical, rehabilitative, and/or social and psychological services personnel; may have direct over clerical personnel.
Location of Work:
Department of Public Safety and Corrections; Corrections Services, Adult and Juvenile Correctional Facilities.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Corrections Program Manager 2 by absence of combined professional staff (medical, rehabilitative psychological, and/or social services).Develops, implements, and maintains medical, rehabilitative, and/or social service programs.
Develops, coordinates, and implements treatment plans used for the rehabilitation of inmates in a juvenile correctional facility and supervises and coordinates the inmate re-evaluation process at regular intervals. Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan; participates in the revisions to plans and reports the results of the inmate's staffing to the court of commitment.
Supervises and coordinates the various professional disciplines of the program through administrative guidance.
Evaluates program effectiveness for quality and quantity of services provided. Revises policies and procedures as indicated to assure program efficiency and continuity.
Determines program requirements of personnel, equipment, and materials.
Supervises preparation of budget requests and expenditure of funds.
Serves on special disciplinary, evaluative, classification, and other committees concerned with the custody, care, or planning for inmates. Manages the operations of the treatment team.
Salary : $3,890 - $7,658
