The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as the Director of the Office of Communications. The right candidate will serve in a leadership position within DIFS, developing and executing the Department’s communications and outreach strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team that handles internal and external communications, events, social media outreach, and more, as you communicate to a wide variety of audiences about important insurance and financial services topics that are fundamental to Michiganders’ opportunity, security, and success. You will also be responsible for working with members of the media as the Department’s Public Information Officer. This is an opportunity to work closely with the Department Director, a cabinet-level position, as well as the Governor’s communications team and other stakeholders to connect Michiganders with clear and accurate information about topics like health insurance coverage, bank and credit union accounts, mortgages, and much more.

Work Location: This is an in-person position based in Lansing, Michigan, with the possibility for a hybrid work where you would work from home occasionally, following a training period if approved.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience
