Job Summary
**The Minnesota Deparment of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Traning Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
The purpose of this position is to provide technical analysis, data collection, and report preparation for noise, air quality, and other technical aspects of environmental documents for the MnDOT Metro District Project Documentation (Project Controls) Group.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
One year of professional experience; OR Two years of advanced clerical experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mathematics, Physics, Acoustic Engineering or related degree; that demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas: (Please ensure that your resume addresses the following factors listed below.)
- Knowledge of Minnesota statewide and regional environmental issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook sufficient to maintain data and produce documents, spreadsheets, presentations and reports.
- A valid Class D Driver’s License with NONE of the following: No major traffic convictions in the past 5 years; OR 4 or more minor violations in the last 3 years; OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences.
In addition to the proceeding minimum qualifications, if advanced to the finalist pool for this classification, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, outline expectations, facilitate meetings, and answer general project questions related to contracts, policy and procedures.
- Ability to gather, organize and interpret data and present information along with recommendations.
- Organization skills sufficient to handle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, coordinate activities, and initiate research, anticipate and solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience making maps and analyzing datae using GIS applications.
- Knowledge and application of computer aided design (CAD) programs, especially Microstation and Openroads.
- Experience working within Federal and Minnesota environmental laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Successful participation of the State of Minnesota Star of the North Fellowship program.
