Job Summary


The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.

The Forensics Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.

The Forensic Mental Health Program is looking for a Unit Supervisor! The Unit Supervisor will provide leadership in treatment planning and implementation to ensure patient care is parallel with treatment models. The Unit Supervisor will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of the unit while collaborating with the team to ensure a safe environment for patients; that is therapeutic, positive, and respectful.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Assess qualifications of candidates and hire employees
  • Train, coach, evaluate, and provide feedback for employees
  • Collaborate in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of unit guidelines
  • Participate in pertinent treatment team and patient care meetings

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must:

Have three (3) years professional experience in a therapeutic, residential, or corrective environment. Experience must include the following:

  • Case management, monitoring, or delivery of therapeutic services to individuals;
  • Supervising, mentoring, or providing lead work to staff

A Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Rehabilitation Therapy, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences or a related field may be substituted for 6 months of experience.

OR An equivalent combination of the above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with patients/clients with sexual psychopathic personalities, sexually dangerous persons, mentally ill and dangerous, or with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of psychopathic personalities and sex offender treatment modalities
