Job Location:
The System Administration Specialist's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support the State of Missouri’s core organizational functions and websites. This is achieved by effectively leveraging all networked software and applications throughout the lifecycle (Analysis, Design, Build, Test, Operation, and Retirement).
The Systems Administration Specialist will be responsible for the support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server applications for both public-facing and internal networks. Successful candidates must be organized, self-motivated, and enjoy a challenge. This specific position is a team lead for our Windows enterprise shared web hosting team and administers hundreds of sites both internal and external for the State of Missouri. This position also entails keeping up with IT-related requests, researching new web hosting technologies to improve current systems, working on individual projects as well as projects within a group, requesting and installing certificates, creating new servers and new sites, and working with app dev on-site deployment or maintenance. Candidates will also need to be a team player and possess the skills necessary to teach others about complex topics.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the State Data Center (SDC).

- Coordinate projects with team members and customers relating to system maintenance, implementation of new systems, or system enhancements.
- Schedule and coordinate complex tasks with team members and between teams.
- Perform installation and configuration of new systems.
- Configure system monitoring, perform testing operations and perform tests to ensure system stability.
- Perform system updates, validate that systems are patched and up to date, and ensure that all systems meet all security standards and requirements.
- Troubleshoot system and application issues.
- Knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2012r2-2022.
- Knowledge and experience with RHEL 7/8/9.
- Knowledge of Network Infrastructure, TCP/IP, Firewall, and Network Troubleshooting.
- Knowledge and experience with Splunk administration.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
- The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
- The ability to lead a team of 3 on Splunk projects and tasks.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
