The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located with Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks, NV. Incumbent plans and schedules a variety of landscape and grounds maintenance activities including but not limited to planting, mowing, irrigating, pruning, fertilizing, clean up of trash, leaves, snow and ice. Candidate must have experience in applying modern methods of horticulture, irrigation and landscape alterations. Other duties include; purchase materials; maintain adequate inventories, calculate applications of sod, seed, herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers; evaluate and solve problems related to management of turf, shrubs, flowers and irrigation systems. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools and techniques; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
