The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform journey level duties.
This is an IT Technician 2 position being recruited to underfill an IT Technician 4 position within the Governor's Office of the CIO (OCIO), Facility Operations team. This is an entry-level opportunity for those seeking to begin a career in Information Technology, in an Enterprise environment. This is an onsite position located in Carson City, Nevada. Primary duties for the incumbent include monitoring multiple computing technology platforms including Windows and Linux Server OS Virtual Machines, IBM mainframe (z/OS), modifying z/OS and Linux/UNIX job schedules, making basic code changes to batch jobs, printing large batches of duplex printed output, monitoring all equipment housed within the OCIO Computer Facility, and notifying the Server, Mainframe, UNIX, Network, and Mechanical sections along with other State of Nevada agencies of software and hardware failures. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, one year of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
