Job Summary

The SoonerStart program is specifically tailored to cater to families with infants or toddlers who have developmental delays. As mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the program aims to supplement and provide necessary resources to aid families in augmenting their child's learning and development through routine learning opportunities. The Resource Coordinators are responsible for organizing, planning, and supervising the implementation of early intervention services for eligible infants, toddlers, and their families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in special education, early childhood education, family relations, psychology, sociology, nursing or closely related field; or
  • A Bachelor’s degree and one years’ experience in programs serving youth and families may substitute for the specific degree requirements.

  • Collaboration & Collaboration: works closely with families primarily in their homes to assess the need for medical, educational, developmental, social, and other related services; connects families with available community resources and support systems.
  • Planning and directing activities: design, execute, and manage intervention services for infants and toddlers (aged 0-2) with disabilities and their families in accordance with the Oklahoma Early Intervention Act and IDEA guidelines, through the SoonerStart Division of the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Developing & implementing solutions: monitors and provide follow-up activities to ensure that early intervention services are implemented and adequately address the needs of the child and family.
  • Compliance: Documents the child and family's early intervention services and compliance with program timelines according to IDEA, Part C regulations, by keeping accurate case records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Location: County Health Department

  • This is a field-based position and requires travel in and around assigned districts;
  • The work environment for this position includes:
    • climate controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise.
    • Health Department and client’s residences;
  • While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, listen, sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms crawl, squat, kneel or bend.
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach and bend 75% of the time;
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, office telephone 75% of the time;
  • Ascends/descends stairs 25% of the time;
  • Communicates with others accurately and effectively 100%;
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
TRAVEL

75% in-state/out-of-state travel may be required to conduct, facilitate and/or attend meetings and trainings.

TELEWORK

The position is ineligible for telework.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship;

  • Must possess a to perform necessary job-related travel.
