This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Nursing Care Center, 200 Harden St, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Laundry Manager I, working under general supervision of Supply Manager II, you will be responsible for managing operation and supervising personnel assigned to Roddey and Stone facilities to include processing linen, wearing apparel, under pads, and disposable briefs. Assign work schedules to assure equal distribution of laundry supplies. Perform evaluations on laundry personnel; monitor work performances; and contract monitoring, performs all other duties as requested and required.
Responsibilities for this Laundry Manager I include but are not limited to:
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements: Three (3) years of experience in commercial/institutional laundry operations; or any combination of education, training and experience.

Ability to apply policies and maintain an effective working relation with co-workers and laundry service vendors. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of DIS. Routinely receives and carries out assignments independently. Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and departmental information. Ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, bend, climb stairs; move from area/building to another; lift up to fifty (50) lbs. Possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License. Laundry Services is a 5 day per week operation. Emergency coverage may be required.

Responsibilities for this Laundry Manager I include but are not limited to:
- Manages laundry operations, and personnel; Unit PAR levels are maintained; work areas organized, and trash discarded daily.
- Manages and coordinates with CMTNCC Wound Care Specialist; PAR's for diapers, briefs, and under pads stock levels are maintained.
- Manage schedules for warehouse distribution; Controls, assigns, establishes balanced workloads for laundry personnel for task coverage, to include holidays, and emergency related situations.
- Establishes operational procedures. Ensures laundry operation and personnel meet health and safety standards in accordance with OSHA and DHEC. Emergency preparedness as directed by Hospital Incident Command Center, and JCAHO requirements.
- Contract Monitor (ALSCO); Inspects quantity and quality of products, emergency PAR levels, and weekly-monthly invoice payments. Approves weekly time sheets for work performed by temporary personnel.
- Orders, issues, and maintain inventory of all linen, towels, wash clothes, and operating supplies. Ensures adequate supplies are maintained.
- Vehicle Control Officer for 2 vehicles assigned to Materials Management Department to include: routine maintenance, mileage, and credit card fuel purchases.
- Issues and repairs of washers and dryers for 8 units; client's personal clothing is washed, dried, and returned to clients closets by temp staffers.
- Submits work orders for maintenance and repairs.
- Coordinates with Volunteer Service donation of clothing lost and found, free issue; checks with ALSCO for lost and found clothing.
- In the absence of the Supply Manager I, assumes the duties and responsibilities related to the overall operation.
