DSHS BHA Security Guard 3
The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking a Security Guard Supervisor to work at the DSHS Behavioral Health and Treatment Center at the Maple Lane Campus located in Grand Mound, Washington just north of Centralia. In this role, you will provide supervision to security officers who provide protection and security to residents, staff and the facility. A primary focus of this job is on verbal de-escalation and ensuring the direct reports under this position are up to date on all required training and are practicing the de-escalation skills.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do
- Supervise and assist security staff
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and control security activities, responses, and actions
- Communicate with executive management, supervisors, security, and other campus staff through memo reports, surveys, and evaluations
- Respond to life and death emergencies and assist law enforcement, fire, and/or other agencies
- Confiscate, secure and preserve contraband and evidence
- Plan and provide specific shift work schedules
- Provide counseling to subordinates to resolve disputes, discrepancies, and conflicts
- Conduct monthly check-ins with subordinates and complete monthly reports or other assigned administrative duties as needed
Who should apply
Professionals with a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in areas of work such as security guard, correctional officer, store investigator, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work. (A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission, or a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for one of the three years of the above experience)

Three years of experience as a Security Guard 1
Or
Two years of experience as a Security Guard 2
