We're looking to hire a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at our Maple Lane facility in Centralia, nearest Grand Mound.Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and Night work hours include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.
Some of what you'll do- Plan, assign, instruct, and supervise staff of workers and/or residents engaged in the operation of sewage treatment and the water treatment/distribution plant
- Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment, compressors, pumps, water lines, controls, and meters
- Collect water samples for bacteriological and chemical analysis; check chlorine residual and adjust feed rate, clean and check operation of residual analyzer
- Inspect, plan, and advise the facility manager regarding maintenance, operations, and safety issues
- Maintain records concerning water quality testing and water consumption; prepare reports on the water treatment plant and water distribution system
Who we're looking for
Those with a valid Washington State Certificate of Competency issued by the Department of Health as a Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 or Water Distribution Manager 2
Desired
- Ability to perform basic pipe-fitting work and install meters, hydrants, and valves
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, and procedures; knowledge of drinking water standards
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in the operation of a secondary sewage treatment plant
- Ability to show patience and respect to residents who may exhibit challenging behaviors
