EXTRA Salary Information:

The Target Pay Range typically considered for this position is $91,848 - $131,448 (Range of Consideration) annually. The Full Pay Range for this WMS Band is $77,616 - $138,360 (Full band range) annually. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education or training. We will consider your individual qualifications, should we make you an offer of employment.
 
Job Highlights
 
The Director of Organizational Change Readiness position is located within the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I’s) Office of Strategy and Performance (OSP), Enterprise Change Readiness Office (ECRO) and reports to the Director of Strategy and Performance.  The Office of Strategy and Performance provides enterprise wide services including strategic planning, innovation, portfolio management, and much more.  We help L&I divisions, leaders, and employees focus their thinking to align their strategies, processes and workflows with the agency’s mission, goals and values to be more effective in their work and prepare for change.

In this role, you will use your unique vision and approach to lead our agency through significant change.  You will advise on and implement organizational change readiness and project management strategies to maximize agency outcomes.

You’d be leading an enthusiastic, energized team of change managers, analysts and others working on major projects and initiatives affecting our agency’s 3,000 employees and the millions of customers and stakeholders we serve. Our Enterprise Change Readiness Office specializes in supporting and helping people successfully adapt to change, working closely with project managers and leaders across the agency.

Someone with a deep understanding of organizational change management in a complex system with competing priorities and diverse perspectives. A strong communicator who can see the big picture, apply change management best practices, and adapt.

 Some of what you’ll do:
 
  • Develop, maintain and expand a community of organizational change readiness advocates across the organization to provide sustainable services.
  • Establish and enhance enterprise organizational change management as a critical partner in successfully achieving business goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership to determine and prioritize agency needs.
  • Manage the enterprise organizational change readiness portfolio.
  • Assess enterprise change readiness needs and build capabilities to close the gaps.   Diagnose and address organizational change readiness-related business challenges in a proactive manner.
  • Work with leadership and/or project teams to identify and develop effective organizational change readiness strategies including communication and training plans.
  • Develop communication and training materials with subject matter experts.   Develop and facilitate organizational change management workshops for diverse stakeholders.
  • Develop a resource plan for meeting the organizational change readiness needs of a project, potentially including vendor and contract management.
  • Assess a broad set of change risks on projects and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate, lead and consult on change and transition efforts in various parts of the organization to maximize the likelihood that identified goals are fully achieved.
  • Facilitate, guide and consult on change sustainment at the project level.
  • Direct recruitment and hiring efforts to fill vacancies in various functions of the Office of Strategy and Performance.
  • Oversee the performance of the Enterprise Change Readiness Office.

Required:
 
A total of nine years of experience and/or education.
 
Equivalent work experience may substitute for education on a year to year basis.  The required experience may have been obtained concurrently with education and job experience.  A comparable combination of education such as an Associates Degree or Journey level standing as a result of completing an apprenticeship and experience is acceptable.
 
OR
 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, organization development, applied behavioral sciences, business administration or related field. 
AND
 

  • Five (5) years of management experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience leading organizational change readiness efforts with an expert level understanding of methodologies, including experience with large-scale organizational change readiness efforts.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with executives utilizing the skills and knowledge described below to design and implement organizational development interventions that improve work groups, teams and organizations.

Desired:
 
  • Master’s degree in organizational development, applied behavioral sciences, human resources management, business administration or related field.   Master’s degree in organizational development strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a large, multi-function, complex, multi-site organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with multiple specific methodologies.
  • Knowledge of information technology concepts and practices.
  • Experience guiding a large organization through major changes.

To help you maintain a proper work-life balance, teleworking is one of the work schedule options for this position.  L&I also offers flexible custom work schedules.  Remote work from a state outside of WA requires approval.
 
For this position, telework is permitted full time with the requirement to report to the Tumwater Headquarters office as needed to meet with leadership, project teams, or for other business needs that may arise.  This will be at least once a month but may occur more frequently as needed.  Flexibility is necessary. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
