What This Job Is About: The Labor Relations Assistant will assist professional labor relations staff and support contract negotiations, interest arbitration, grievances, associated labor relations and human resources processes. You may at times provide administrative support to other sections within the State Human Resources Division, the Office of Financial Management (OFM) and the Governor’s Office. We’re looking for a self-starter with a high degree of accountability and attendance. Who has proven ability to work independently as well as in a team, anticipate needs, quickly and efficiently adapt to changes in development, and who can exercise professional judgement and work with complex and sensitive material while maintaining confidentiality.Hybrid: This position is located at our headquarters building in Olympia WA. We offer flexible work schedules and locations. This is a hybrid position where most of the work allows for telework. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Some of what you’ll do: Assist the team with scheduling and case management by collecting, logging and systematically organizing bargaining and grievance information and documents to ensure case management is in accordance with the appropriate governing document. Assist assigned labor negotiators with note taking during contract negotiations and demands to bargain.Perform administrative tasks such as formatting, proofing and editing assigned Collective Bargaining Agreements ensuring they are accurate and ready for posting on the OFM website via Drupal (web content management framework), and preparing additional documents, reports and template letters as they relate to collective bargaining and case management.Upload and maintain accessible and searchable collective bargaining agreements and related documents to the OFM website. Be tasked with an assortment of assigned special projects, such as mentoring and training fellow Labor Relations Assistants, providing backup for the Support Supervisor in their absence, gathering documents for information and public disclosure requests, assist with records retention and archiving, facilitating internal legislation processes; and assisting with new employee orientation to the section.
