GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Office is authorized to hire two seasonal employees in 2023 to perform statewide non-motorized trail construction and maintenance. The typical season runs from May until September but could begin earlier or extend into the fall depending on weather and location. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Create a visible pathway (trail) for users to follow by modifying the natural surface terrain using tools to dig, scrape, chop, and remove branches, trees, rocks, etc.
- Trail Maintenance may also include building and repairing stone walls that hold a trail tread.
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be dependable, self-motivated, flexible, and willing to cohabit with other trail builders on site.
Prior knowledge of trail construction techniques and familiarity with trail tools is preferred but not required.
**Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 16 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Basic construction and maintenance knowledge.
- Basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools.
- Basic safety awareness of equipment use.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Positions are headquartered in Cheyenne, but the work can be performed anywhere in the state of Wyoming.
- Must work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to hike and climb while carrying heavy tools and equipment and maintaining a vigorous pace.
- Must be able to lift heavy rocks and swing trail tools all day.
- Must be comfortable working in remote locations.

- Seasonal positions require irregular hours of work, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
